My Journey to a Healthy me, Day 110

Whew, busy day today.

Shopping day. So we went to Costco, Walmart, and Sprouts this afternoon. I still need to go to Target for a few more items, and maybe Safeway as well. I also ordered a couple of things from Amazon.

Soon, I will be trying a few different recipes from KetoConnect.net and HeadbangersKitchen.com

Today, I started off making 3 minute Keto Cheddar Biscuits, from KetoConnect.

Mine did not turn out as great. They cooked a little uneven in the mug I chose. When I tried to remove it, some of it stuck, and it broke. Even with that, they tasted really good. My wife thought they tasted really close to the Red Lobster Cheddar bay biscuits too.

Blood sugar has been a little low the past couple of days. Today I upped the carbs a bit, and had them more at night. Will see how it looks tomorrow. The blood sugar numbers tonight were fine.

Thursday

Had a great time bowling. Wife and youngest were at the Barracuda playoff hockey game.

Food:

04/19 MyFitnessPal – 1555 Calories, 13 net carbs. Wings in the afternoon, and breakfast at night 🙂

Sleep:

1:23 am to 9:06 am. Yup, once again I let myself go late. I had gotten busy doing some things, and could have went to bed at 12. I wanted to get my reading in though, and let that go a bit. So, keeping the routine, just not doing it in the correct time.

This Weekend

I have my son’s bowling tomorrow. Later on tomorrow night, we have the Barracuda playoff game to go to. Hopefully, they can win. Then on Sunday, I have Match Club to bowl. It is an away match up, so it looks like a 2 hour drive there. Bowl at 1 pm, then a 2 hour trip back. I need to plan my eating carefully.

We need to also start cleaning though items in the house. We will probably have to move this summer, so getting things downsized and ready to go is required. No idea what housing we might end up finding. Everything is very expensive for rent out here.

My Journey to a Healthy Me, Day 109

Hooray, bowling went well tonight! 🙂 I did make a few errors though. Missed a 10 pin, and 7 pin. My games were 244, 205, 181 for a 630 series. Those two spare misses were in that third game.

I got a few things done today. Mostly housework stuff, but I felt accomplished getting it done. Blood Sugar was a little low this morning, so I think it has been effecting me. Like Not wanting to get up out of bed to do anything. 3 mornings in a row now. I wake up, then just sit in bed doing stuff on the phone. So I hope to break the cycle tomorrow.

I have been starting to notice more changes in my body. Taking measurements, and before pictures help. I can see the changes there. I’m also noticing that my legs aren’t getting as swelled up as they use to. I am really happy to see that happening.

Wednesday

Didn’t get out and do too much. Still got a little sunlight. mostly everything went fine. I was up a touch later, and read until almost 12:30 am.

Food:

04/18 MyFitnessPal – 1555 Calories, 13 net carbs. Much closer to where I like to be. I think my happy place is 14-1600 calories. Most days. 🙂

Sleep:

12:34 am to 8:33 am. A bit of trouble getting to sleep. Then in the morning, my arms were bugging me a little, and couldn’t keep asleep.

Tomorrow

Shopping day. I was also hoping to check out Super Troopers 2, but don’t think I can.

My Journey to a Healthy Me, Day 108

Didn’t get out too much today. Got a little Pokemon Go done when I picked up my son, and then let him play at the park for a little while.

Shopping for items is going to have to wait for pay day. I made out a big list though. Quite a few recipes I want to give a try.  Pulling in from KetoConnect, and Headbangers Kitchen. I have a few desserts in there as well to give a try.

Yesterday, I gave a new dressing a try. Walden Farms Creamy Bacon.

When I bought it, I also got a french flavor as well. They are both practically free of everything. Just some sodium. So with the French, it wasn’t too bad, but there was something off with it for me. I don’t know what it was, but sometimes it had a weird taste, or it made my stomach feel a bit upset.

I am happy to report, that I have no such problems with the creamy bacon. I had it today just to double check. It also tasted pretty good too. So this gives me an option for my salads now.

Tuesday

I made some wings with sugar free BBQ sauce. Then didn’t do much else. Tuesday nights is raiding night with my friends in World of Warcraft. Also since I am a St. Louis Cardinals fan, I needed to watch them too.

Cardinals won. 🙂 It was even better, because it was against the Cubs!

Food:

04/17 MyFitnessPal – 1727 Calories, 18 net carbs. More calories and carbs then I would have liked. It worked out OK with my numbers, just I would rather it be lower.

Sleep:

11:59 pm to 8 am. I got in some reading, and got to bed on time. Still woke up a bit tired. I feel like I am trying to catch up on missed sleep or something. Tomorrow, I am not going to have an alarm at 8 am. If need be, I will get that sleep in. I hope.

Tomorrow

Bowling day! 🙂 Hopefully, I do well this time. I have a few things to prepare for next week. 1 being to finally get my computer area cleaned up.

Time for some sugar free BBQ wings 😁

It was Chicken Wing Day! 🙂 I had seen this sugar free BBQ sauce before, but hadn’t tried it. So the other day at the store, I went for it. 2 grams of carbs per serving (30 ml) So I made 15 wings with 3 servings of sauce. So each serving of wings I will have is 5. Overall, pretty pleases with the taste. It has Sucralose in it. So I though I tasted something odd. That may be it, or it is just in my head. Will see how leftovers taste tomorrow.

Not too much else done today. Just played some games with friends online for a bit.

Monday

Monday, we had rain. Not normal misty California rain, but actual hard rain. Plus there was thunder. I love storms, so hearing thunder got me all excited. If that wasn’t odd enough, there was a 3.8 earthquake too! Loud roar with a quick little jolt. Nothing major.

Then there was bowling last night. On man, I did horrible. I thought I would have a good night. Started off with a 203. Then went 154 in the second game. Third game went down to 136. I think I had 4 or 5 splits. It was rough. I was not in a happy place coming home. No need to hold all that angry in though. I tossed on some music, and just kinda let it all out on the way home.

Food:

04/16 MyFitnessPal – 1665 Calories, 11 net carbs. No fiber yesterday. Had some Jennie O sweet Italian sausage with my omelet and bacon for “lunch”. Then dinner I made a chicken crust pizza with the same sausage and a couple of pepperoni.

Sleep:

12:26 am to 8 am. I had some tossing and turning last night. Woke up tired this morning. Not exactly sure what was going on. I did get in my reading before I went to bed.

Tomorrow

I’m working on goals for my next Nerdfitness challenge.  One of then is going to be some form of exercise. I really want to get it done too. So I need to be looking at what I can do.

I need to get some dishes done, and might have to dig out some freezer meats to make.

Week 15 is in the books. Time to recap this week.

Weight loss

I am down 6.8 lbs this week. That gives me a total of 46.6 lbs lost since January 1st. I am pretty happy with these results so far. I gained weight in New York, but have now lost it all, plus a little bit extra. Back on track.

I took measurements today as well. March 19th to April 16th:

Neck – 19.60 in / 19.29 in = 0.31 in lost
Chest – 52.95 in / 52.51 in = 0.43 in lost
Waist at belly button – 58.07 in / 56.73 in = 1.33 in lost
Bicep (L) – 17.00 in / 15.94 in = 1.06 in lost
Bicep (R) – 16.61 in / 15.94 in = 0.66 in lost
Forearm (L) – 13.50 in / 13.11 in = 0.39 in lost
Forearm (R) – 13.50 in / 12.99 in = 0.51 in lost
Thigh (L) – 28.58 in / 28.07 in = 0.51 in lost
Thigh (R) – 27.71 in / 27.00 in = 0.70 in lost

So overall, I feel like I am doing great. Sure I wish I was doing more, but this is acceptable. 🙂

I had one close to 20 net carb day. Also a fewer higher calorie days. I did still lose weight. Cravings where just about completely gone this week. I am so glad I didn’t give in previously. Intermittent fasting has been more consistent this week. My eating window has been 11:30 am or 12 pm to 6 pm each day. Though yesterday, I went until 3-3:30 pm before breaking my fast.

So this sleep schedule I need to get back on track ASAP. Too many super late nights, and not enough sleep. I did however get reading done each night I believe. The late nights was mostly me just wanting to read longer. I feel like I am paying for it though. Just been feeling super tired.

This coming week

Time to get my sleep under control. I also want to find some form of exercise to start doing. Walking, body weight workout, or trying to run. I have to get something going here.

I’m also going to look into getting food prep done, so I have meals ready to go.

Hopefully, everyone out there is still pushing strong. I need to call my friend that I bowled with in New York. He said next year, he would be lighter then I am. Sounds like a challenge, and I hope to make sure he is doing it. Just getting a little competition in this 🙂

 

My Journey to a Healthy Me, Days 103-105

Well, I haven’t been up to much the last couple of days, so I guess that’s why I hadn’t been blogging.

Today was Pokemon Go community day. The older son and I hung out at a park to catch a few pokemon. The side effect was my fast was 21 hours. So man, when I got home, I was hungry. 🙂 I skipped getting something from McDonald’s. I got it for everyone else. Then I came home and made a ham and cheese omelet, bacon, meatballs, and almonds. Technically enough for calories on the day, but I think I want to get in just a touch more.

I’ve still be checking my weight each day, and it is moving down. I thought this week might be a stall week, but it hasn’t been so far. I’m starting to get low enough, that I am really thinking it is time to try C25k again. I want to get back into running. I’d really like to be starting some workouts too.

No real issues with eating, and fasting is being down. 12 pm to 6 pm had been my eating window these last few days. Seems to be working out well.

Ahhh the late nights! The one good thing is that I am not just mindlessly staring at the computer. I’v stayed up to read. I finished book 4 last night of The Expanse.

Weekly roundup on Monday. I think I will take measurements too, since it has been a bit. I need to get some food prep going as well. I want to do some kind of workout or test run on Monday. I need to see if I can get some movement going on, so it just isn’t lazy keto.

My Journey to a Healthy Me Days 101 & 102

Well, I remembered too late last night, that I didn’t blog day 101. So I figured I would get an early one done today.

Cravings have gone down now. I knew I just had to push on. Last week, they were so strong. This week they haven’t been a problems. So I’m guessing I am in full keto mode. 🙂

I’ve also been getting my Intermittent fasting more consistent. Though, some of the days I am eating a bit later

I won’t have bowling tonight, because we will be heading to the final San Jose Barracuda game of the season. So I need to make sure I get in my eating before we go.

The last couple of days

Food:

04/10 MyFitnessPal – 1834 Calories, 13 net carbs. A little higher calories, but overall a good day.
04/11 MyFitnessPal – 1505 Calories, 14 net carbs. This is closer to where I want to be at for calories.

Everything is going great in the food area I feel. Intermittent fasting in getting back to where it was before my trip. Everything is moving forward.

Sleep:

04/11 – 2:16 am to 8:16 am. 14x Awake for 42 minutes
04/12 – 11:59 pm to 8:42 am. 18x Awake for 37 minutes

Clearly, I needed to stay up late one more night. haha. I just ended up reading some more. I got to reading late. Last night though, I was on time for reading, and sleeping. Though I woke up a few times.

The Rest of the Week

I have to continue to get sleep under my control. I want to get a couple of things in order around the house as well.  I want to get into exercise for next week. Plus, I want to get a few items at the store. Then I can start making some of these recipes I’ve been seeing 🙂

 

My Journey to a Healthy Me, Day 100

For day 100, I made Chicken Wings 🙂 Cajun spiced chicken wings to be exact. They came out really well. Even both kids ate them. The only problem I had was having some of the seasoning start to burn a bit. I didn’t spread it well enough. Good enough though, and left overs for me.

Today has been decent emotionally. I didn’t have any massive cravings. Food during the day went well. The chicken wings were a nice addon for the day. Something to mix up the standard of what I have been having.

More keto around

My wife hasn’t gone to Keto land yet. She is still battling this cold. It is good that other people are getting her interesting in these other types of foods though.

My wife got a cookbook Simply Keto. The few people at her work also got it. So each of them have been bringing in different things they made from it. Today a coworker brought in some Keto brownies. Even enough that they wanted me to try some too. My wife brought it to me when she got home. So over all it was pretty good. A little dry on the first little piece I had, but better on the second. Not bad carb wise either.

I also was telling my wife about some keto bread options I have found. Something for breakfast sandwiches (for me) and something she can have as toast or like a egg mcmuffin type item in the morning. Her normal staple is toast or English muffin in the morning.

I believe she is getting excited to give the Keto a try, and I am excited to be seeing a lot more things I need to try.

Monday

Nothing too major Monday. I finally got my bowling balls back. About 30 minutes before I was going to leave for bowling too. Unfortunately, they didn’t help me. I did not bowl well at all. I kept having issues with my thumb hanging up in the ball. Hopefully, I can figure it out before Thursday bowling.

Food:

We went and did a little bit of shopping. I bought some almonds, since I was kind of craving them. Ate a couple of servings, so that shot up the calorie count a bit.

04/09 MyFitnessPal – 1781 Calories, 14 net carbs.

Sleep:

Better, but not on target yet. 12:29 am to 9:12 am. I didn’t read, and got to bed later. Then I had some trouble getting to sleep.

Tomorrow

Dentist appointment in the morning. I have to have my crown re done. So that will make coming off of my fast interesting. Otherwise, just a normal day 🙂

My Journey to a Healthy Me, day 99

99 days in! Today is my week in review.

Last week was my return to the good graces of Keto. After having a great trip in New York City, it was nice to be back home to continue pushing on. I gained 12.4 lbs while on vacation. A big jump, but not impossible to recover from.

Week 14 in review

Weight loss

Well, I almost made it back to my before trip weigh this week. 11.8 lbs lost. Now, I say that it has some to do with me being sick when I got back. 🙂 Still, it feels great to drop that much. I bet next week will be a stall week though. Usually seems how it is when you have that big loss from starting up Keto again. With losing almost all of my vacation weight, that brings me back to almost 40 lbs lost since the first. 39.8 lbs.

Food:

I had a couple of rough days. First with being sick, I took NyQuil one night. That has like 19 grams of carbs by itself. The last few days, I have been struggling hard with temptation foods being around. I almost felt ready to give in yesterday. I just need to keep pushing through it, until I am back to not having such strong cravings for the bad foods.

My Intermittent fasting has mostly been on track. There have been a couple of mornings that I ate early, and even one day I ate really late. I felt like it has been ok this week.

04/02 – 1598 Calories, 20 net carbs
04/03 – 1529 Calories, 9 net carbs (This night before bed, I had NyQuil)

Sleep:

Sleep has been all over the place this week. I’ve been letting myself stay up extremely way too late. Even last night, I stayed up to finally beat Pokemon Ultra Moon. This week, I really need to reel this back in, because I hate feeling so tired in the mornings, and it makes it much easier for me to say yes to doing nothing. Some nights, I have read, and some nights I haven’t. One of the late nights was just because I decided I wanted to read a lot haha.

Writing it all down, I can really see how I have jumped off rails of the sleep train.

This coming week

Work on getting my sleep back into control. I want to get myself doing some form of exercise. Make sure my Keto game says strong, and just hit one day at a time. 🙂

 

My Journey to a Healthy Me, Day 98

It’s late, so I think this will just be a real quick little blog post.

Temptation man, it is tough. Today, I almost gave in. I had the urges earlier, but nothing too major. It might have started at the movie theater. You know, the smell of popcorn in the air. I do love me some buttered popcorn. It wasn’t massive though. I watched Ready Player One with my oldest son. It wasn’t too bad. A fun enough movie. Nothing that made me say “Oh, I got to see this again right away” haha.

I got McDonald’s for the family, but I skipped it. Got home and had some pork rinds and chicken. Then I played a bit on the computer. Our raid was canceled for tonight, so no World of Warcraft with my friends. Instead, I watched Wrestlemania with my wife.

By this time, I was getting the cravings. I kept having those whispers in my head. “Ok, just grab a handful of robin eggs, and jelly beans. It’s only one day, you will be fine” “Ohh, those chips would be nice right now. Hey, if you have some chips, then you may aw well get some of that candy!” The debate kept raging in my head. Yes, I could eat that candy tonight. I could get right back to Keto tomorrow.

I know myself too well. If I were to give in today. It would make it that much easier to give in tomorrow. Or I would start doing the keto part time, bad eating part time again. I can’t have that. Now I am not ever saying I can’t have candy, or all those sweets ever again. I just need to be in a better place. Much close to my goal. I can recover from special events where I break out of Keto eating, but giving in right now would be very bad for my mindset I think.

So, I push on. Instead of giving into the candy and such, I started focusing on what to have for dinner. Part of the problem too, was that I wasn’t really in the mood to have the old chicken and salad again. What started saving me, was the though of making some chicken crust pizza. So, that is what I did.

Once I ate that, there were some small cravings still there. Even now, I’d love to just go grab some candy. Making, and eating the pizza though was what made that all fade down.

Hopefully, this up coming week will be better. Once my wife is feeling better, maybe she will be ready to not have that junk int he house as much.

Tomorrow

Weekly update time. I may go see Black Panther as well. I will also have bowling. My bowling balls should be back to me tomorrow, I just don’t know if ti will be in time for my league.
